Safety guides
If a current pulls you away from shore, do not fight it or attempt to swim directly back to the beach. Remain calm, float and swim parallel to the shoreline until you escape the current. Then swim diagonally back toward shore. If you cannot escape, raise your arm and call for help.
Guides based on official recommendations from NOAA/NWS, the CDC, the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
